Music Video: Ab-Soul - Terrorist Threats feat. Danny Brown and Jhene Aiko

Peep the 2nd video from Ab-Soul's sick new LP, Control System. "Terrorist Threats," featuring Danny Brown and Jhene Aiko is easily one of the illest joints on the album. Ab and Danny spit rhymes of frustration and calls for revolution over a bangin' Dave Free beat. The video was directed by Fredo Tovar and Scott Flesihman of APLUSFilmz. 7 Questions With Rheteric Ramirez

Yesterday I caught up with the homey Rheteric Ramirez, who is in the finishing stages of shooting his video for the joint, "Dear Diary."

He will also be rocking the stage at Da Ill Spot tonight, May 18. We will also have Sahtyre, Kandi Cole, Afterdark with DJ Ethos, Teeda, Kid Presentable, and Just Bee. It's all ages and $5 before 11pm.

Big ups to Rheteric and the whole Hellfyre Club yo. Check the raw and uncut interview with Rheteric below!

Thanks for agreeing to play Da Ill Spot on May 18. What can people expect to see at a Rheteric Ramirez show?

Rheteric: Thank you for having me mayne.

I guess I can't really predict what my shows are gonna be like to say so many factors at play. They say I got good energy on stage and that I do good shows I intend to make those people that have said that right.

When is the Dear Diary EP dropping, and how is it different from your last release, LA Is For Motherfuckers?

Rheteric: The Dear Diary ep is being mixed.  When is it dropping? It's tentativity is contingent on its relativity to its completion (lol gettin my Don King on).

Interesting thing folks might like to know about the ep is that non of the mixing or mastering will be digital. Before all the tracks are mixed they are being sent through Analog tape. Almost done shooting the Dear Diary video this week.

What is your view of the battle scene at the moment?

Rheteric: Fuck all scenes

Has the battle scene helped you as a respectable artist? Do u ever feel that some people just see you as a battle mc and not a song writer?

Rheteric: I don't know about the battle scene or any scene in general.

I don't care how people see me. People who know me even a little bit are what matters. Those people see me exactly how they should some of them are scared, some of them are mad, some of them are in love, and hopefully all of them will never forget who they met.

Everybodys a critic most critics are on autopilot when they are writing half the shit you read. All Critics believe the world needs them... they are wrong.
The quality of art is not dependent on Critics or Talking Heads sowey.
Most Critics think they are experts... they are wrong.
Most Critics are fickle so they put anonymous names because they will no doubt change their mind later.
And they all love hearing themselves talk it doesn't matter what they think it never will history proves it.

You have a style of your own. You definitely don't sound like anyone else. Is there any one artist or group of artists that helped shape your style?

Rheteric: Iv'e heard I sound like Ice Cube, mixed with a little bit of Sen Dog (Cypress Hill) and some E40 I guess those people never heard about Volume 10 but he's a big influence and either way its a compliment because all those rappers are an influence. I guess the simple explanation on why I don't sound like anyone else is the tone of my voice and that I really love all kinds of music. People who know me and listen to my music agree that its all me and everything that I speak on is me and true.

Where can fans find your music on the web?

Rheteric:

-Bandcamp:

-I Tunes:

-Hellfyre Club Records

Anything else you would like to share?

Rheteric: Yeah please subscribe to my youtube.com/TheRAMIREZ138 ,and this bears repeating.
"The Dear Diary ep's Tentativity is Contigent on its Relativity to its Completion"

LYRICS TO BREAK THE BANK

lyricBREAK THA BANK by Rheteric Ramirez.FUCK being BROKE been more then dead broke bit off more than I could chew and didn't choose this road/

So to whom it concerns I don't do what I'm told. I'm the duke of do what the fuck you think that I won't/

So don't put yourself on pedestal and talk about your potential. Thats like walkin up to a general and askin him for his medals/

Would you back up what you said and still be thinkin that you are better. when they seperate the Bread winners from the Bed wetters/

I've been grindin pestal and mortar. Brain cel prison riot time to kill the warden/

I'm always outta line but I'm never out of order. I colored outside of the lines while they painted themselves in corners/

Yet they think that I'm not worthy act like I don't belong. Cuz they can't market something that would be here when theyre gone/

It's been a marathon trying to reach the finish. Rheteric Ramirez has been sleep walking these burning bridges/

Thinkin is life.... Home invasion of the mind? Persuasion of the blind? The cult of mankind?

Like we apply the rules of prison to business in freetrade. Then turn around and bitch about a police state/

Everybody wants something for nothing I think that its funny. Every thief I ever met said it aint about the money/

And I guess were all innocent untill we make dollars. Thee anatomy of more money more problems/

Getting mad at me If I do more than make a livin. You got your job security but you can keep your wisdom. Cuz in the work place of reality it just so happens that you havent been promoted past entry level position so......

Chorus

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND CUT OUT ALL THAT NOISE. GIMME THE MONEY WHILE I'M YOUNG ENOUGH TO ENJOY IT 4X.

It goes Ha Ha Ha NOW BREAK THAT BANK Ha Ha Ha NOW BREAK THA BANK

Its bottom line everything that I own I work for motherfucker is mine....

2nd Verse.

And I'm so sorry to break your heart. Falling apart spiraling down to the barrels bottom. Trying to go from Eddie Brock to Peter Parker. In the midst of all the bull in this metropolis I'm part of/

Cuz starvin for stardom is not part of the bargain to be. Time is not on my side and neither are they don't you agree/

Cuz these days we believe in cruel ultimatums. Taking candy from babies or candy from strangers/

And if you don't agree then see the struggle economicly. Profit over people versus ownership of property/

Cuz theres no honor among mongers of hanging around long enough/ To harvest the profit of and talk to us like the fruit of our labor from what the fuck we were brave enough to do our own way does not belong to us/ uh uh

Chorus

SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND CUT OUT ALL THAT NOISE

GIMME THE MONEY WHILE I'M YOUNG ENOUGH TO ENJOY IT

HA HA HA HA NOW BREAK THA BANK

Verse 3.

Am I demon or anti hero be honest. Is it evil to want them to fall and crack theyre skull slippin up on their own vomit/ Yellin momma. As peices of them rott inside of my stomach/

Pissin dumb bitch in a bottle and callin it smart water. As my liver turns your blood into urine for profit/

Turnin to cannibalism like Chinese farmers did. When theyre farms were were turned to steel mills for industry by the Communists/

The roll models of broken promises will burn a hole in your wallet. Take out a holding deposit rip out your soul and then pawn it/

For all the politics and people who are followin or ......

CHORUS

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND CUT OUT ALL THAT NOISE TAKE ALL THE MONEY WHILE YOUR YOUNG ENOUGH TO ENJOY HEY!

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND CUT OUT ALL THAT NOISE GIMME THE MONEY WHILE YOUR YOUNG ENOUGH TO ENJOY ....

IT GOES HA HA HA HA NOW BREAK THA BANK.

R.I.P. MCA

Yesterday's news of Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys passing away hit kind of hard for me. He had been battling lung cancer for a few years now. However I was under the impression that he was clear of it. But that damn cancer is a monster and unfortunately took over at the age of 47.

I am happy that I got to see the Beasties perform once, and it was amazing. There was one other time that I was on my way to a free Beastie Boys show, but LA trafffic prevented me from making it in time. The Beasties have a huge catalog of hits and the music will live on forever.

Peep some of my favorite Beastie Boys videos below.
