Paid Dues Festival Adds Living Legends, Kendrick Lamar, Dilated Peoples + More
About 15 minutes ago Murs annouced additions to the 2012 Paid Dues Festival in San Bernardino, CA. Up to this point, it was only Wu-Tang Clan and Odd Future. Murs' crew Living Legends will be rocking, as well as Kendrick Lamar legendary West Coast acts Hieroglyphics, DJ Quik, Psycho Realm, and Dilated Peoples. Dipset, whom will be performing for their first time in California is also confirmed. Up and comer Kendrick Lamar will be rocking a dope set, which I am very pleased to hear.
There will still be about 30 more artists, which will fill 3 stages throughout a 12 hour day of Hiphop. This is what a festival is supposed to be. Paid Dues started off as pretty much an "underground" Hiphop festival. However, over the past 3 years, Murs has been much more open minded to including more commercially successful, yet still independent artists.
I've been waiting for DJ Quik to play a Guerilla Union show. It's long overdue. Quik's performances never dissapoint. I'm happy with the rest of the lineup as well. I'm not much of a Dipset fan, and I expect hardcore PD fans to shit on that selection. But hey, that's why there is 3 stages.

Coachella 2012 Lineup!
Just a few hours ago Goldenvoice dropped the 2012 Coachella lineup. It will be two weekends this year, April 13-15 and April 20-21. The biggest surprise is Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg closing out the festival on the 15th and 21st. People have been trying to get that combo on festivals for several years. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint. I'm also excited a fan of the other headliners, Radiohead and The Black Keys. I'll be making an effort to catch Company Flow, Seun Kuti, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Nero, Flying Lotus, and many more. Holla if you see me yo!

The Music Box Temporarily Closes Down
Just last week I was telling someone that The Music Box was the premier music venue in Hollywood. Over the past year, there have been many sold out shows there. However, due to previous owners sellling their shares, leasing issues with the landlord, and other undisclosed problems, The Music Box has temporarily shut down.
I was just there last Wednesday to see Rusko, and it was another dope, sold out night. I passed by a couple of days ago, and the marquee read, "Can't Stop The Music." Let's hope for a quick return, because The Music Box is a dope venue to see a show. Just don't go broke at the bar. The drinks are waay overpriced!
Peep the press release from Goldenvoice below.
For Immediate Release
January 6th, 2012
At this time, it is our understanding that the closing of The Music Box is a short term closure, please be patient with us as we work out the details as they pertain to our previously scheduled shows.

The decisions that we make determine our progression or regression regardless of other people's opinions of our circumstances. Strays embodies the trials and triumphs of many aspects of everyday living told from a lyrically insightful point of view."
