Video- Historic LA Hiphop: Unity Flyers
Anybody that grew up in LA on the Hiphop scene and is over 30 should know about Unity. Back in the mid to late 90s it was the place to be if you wanted to see dope, raw Hiphop. Unity was organized by Bigga B, who passed away in 1999. Shows were usually no more than $10.
I remember seeing Jeru rip it, Blackstar's record release party, Eminem as an opener for Killah Priest, Big Pun and Goodie Mob, Wu-Tang, and many more! Peep the video below displaying some of the old Unity flyers.

Kid Robot Releases De La Soul Vinyl Toy Set
I'm not really too big on the vinyl toy scene, but it's a very popular market right now. And Kidrobot is one of the most popular of vinyl toy distributors. They recently released a limited edition De La Soul set, and I am dying to get my hands on of these! They are in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of De La's debut album, 3 Feet High & Rising. They each come with distinguishing accessories and are packaged in "futuristic space travel boxes." There are only 1,000 sets in existence, retailing at $50.

Gilbert Arenas Sentenced to Probation + 30 Days in Halfway House
A couple of days ago Washington Wizards All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas, who pleaded guilty to a single felony count of possessing a gun without a license, avoided jail time. Prosecutors pushed for a 3 month sentence, however, he was sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house and two years of supervised probation. In addition to those terms, Arenas, will also be required to serve 400 hours of community service, donate $5,000 to a victims of violent crimes fund and register as a gun offender in Washington.
It was confirmed yesterday by Wizards President Ernie Grunfield that Arenas will be back with the team next year. He's still under contract, and owed $80 over the next four years. Hopefully Arenas will have no more issues and redeem himself as one of the bright stars of the NBA.
Video: The Guns Show Pt.1 & 2...A Native Guns Documentary
This is a dope set of videos filmed in 2006 that document the West Coast Hiphop crew, Native Guns, formed by MCs, Bambu and Kiwi, and DJ Phatrick. These videos are well done and narrated by Bambu, explaining how the group came to be and the struggles they went through. As of right now, the members of the group are all embarking on solo careers. Bambu recently released the EP, Paper Cuts, which has been getting alot of love. Check his site for tour dates. Kiwi is also actively touring as well, and Phatrick is active in production and putting out mixtapes. As of right now, Native Guns are no longer a group. Music Video: Ivan Ives - All My Life (Stop Motion)
This is a pretty dope video from So Cal MC Ivan Ives. The song is pretty cool as well. It's the first single off of his "First Of The Month" project - in which he will release a new single on the first of every month for the duration of 2010.
The video for "All My Life" was done entirely using a plethora of stop motion photography techniques. The point of the video, besides to provide an entertaining companion to the song, was to explore a variety of stop motion methods and tie them all together using the words of the song, often being represented by Scrabble letters.
I will post the February and March videos shortly. It was directed, shot, and edited by Ivan Ives. Animation help came from David Gemmill, and graffiti was done by Fear One.

Barack Obama's Heatlth Care Reform Bill Passes
Friend --
For the first time in our nation's history, Congress has passed comprehensive health care reform. America waited a hundred years and fought for decades to reach this moment. Tonight, thanks to you, we are finally here.
Consider the staggering scope of what you have just accomplished:
Because of you, every American will finally be guaranteed high quality, affordable health care coverage.
Every American will be covered under the toughest patient protections in history. Arbitrary premium hikes, insurance cancellations, and discrimination against pre-existing conditions will now be gone forever.
And we'll finally start reducing the cost of care -- creating millions of jobs, preventing families and businesses from plunging into bankruptcy, and removing over a trillion dollars of debt from the backs of our children.
But the victory that matters most tonight goes beyond the laws and far past the numbers.
It is the peace of mind enjoyed by every American, no longer one injury or illness away from catastrophe.
It is the workers and entrepreneurs who are now freed to pursue their slice of the American dream without fear of losing coverage or facing a crippling bill.
And it is the immeasurable joy of families in every part of this great nation, living happier, healthier lives together because they can finally receive the vital care they need.
This is what change looks like.
My gratitude tonight is profound. I am thankful for those in past generations whose heroic efforts brought this great goal within reach for our times. I am thankful for the members of Congress whose months of effort and brave votes made it possible to take this final step. But most of all, I am thankful for you.
This day is not the end of this journey. Much hard work remains, and we have a solemn responsibility to do it right. But we can face that work together with the confidence of those who have moved mountains.
Our journey began three years ago, driven by a shared belief that fundamental change is indeed still possible. We have worked hard together every day since to deliver on that belief.
We have shared moments of tremendous hope, and we've faced setbacks and doubt. We have all been forced to ask if our politics had simply become too polarized and too short-sighted to meet the pressing challenges of our time. This struggle became a test of whether the American people could still rally together when the cause was right -- and actually create the change we believe in.
Tonight, thanks to your mighty efforts, the answer is indisputable: Yes we can.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Michael Jordan Approved As Majority Owner of Charlotte Bobcats
As expected, Michael Jordan was announced as the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. Jordan's $275 million purchase of the club from Bob Johnson was approved by the rest of the league's owners yesterday. Johnson was the first black majority owner in the NBA. Now Jordan is the second as well as the first former player to outright own a team. He called it a dream come true. The Bobcats have been in existence for 6 years and are having their best season yet. They're in good contention to make the playoffs and have a good coach in Larry Brown. However, there is still a long way to go, but Jordan is up for the task. Props to MJ and good luck!
