On March 3rd, 1886, Robert Fleming Jr. invented the guitar. Yes, a black man invented the guitar! Fleming was tired of the same old sound. Obviously, Flemming's invention has stood the test of time, having been the integral part in a countless number of musical classics. Unfortunately there is very little info on him or pictures.

While you are at it you just as well credit him with inventing the comb, wheel, bow and arrow, gunpowder, and the game of chess. That is just as believable!
Six string classical guitars were played in Spain hundreds and hundreds of years before Fleming was born. The picture shown is a Gibson Les Paul, co-developed by Les Paul and Gibson luthiers.
Fleming had nothing to do with "INVENTING" anything.
