Lakers Get It Done!

Well, I'm one of the biggest and most loyal Laker fans around. It was a great Christmas day matchup with Boston yesterday. We put a hurting on those boys. Pau Gasol came up big in crunch time. He was pretty weak throughout most of the game. But Kobe set him up nicely and he got it going. Kobe's jumper was nicer than ever, and the bench produced well. Even Luke Walton did some good things. Despite Boston's outrageous 27-3 record, they're not as deep as they were last year, when they had James Posey and PJ Brown coming off their bench. That is where we are superior, when it gets to the second units. It was a good physical game, and for the first time since the renewal of this rivalry, the Lakers looked tougher. Granted, much work is still to be done, but they played the kind of defense that needs to be played in order to get over the top. The Lakers, now at 24-5 need to keep it up, and hope for more Boston losses to stay in the running for best record in the league which will grant home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The West definitely is not as ill as it was last year. Cleveland is a beast out East, and will give Boston a hell of a run for the finals. I'm sure come playoff time San Antonio will probably still be a test, but I see the Lakers easily stomping through any other competitors. But it is a long season, so let's hope for no major injuries.
